Software Engineer - Tools and Applications

Visionist, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer - Tools and Applications to design, build, and support AI tools and applications delivered under a Prime contract. The role is based in Laurel, MD on-site and focuses on delivering secure, reliable services with a strong emphasis on customer needs.

Role Overview

You will develop and maintain AI tools and applications for workforce use while ensuring high availability, reliability, performance, and security. This position also involves adapting Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) to customer use cases and maintaining customer-facing infrastructure and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality AI tools and applications for end users within the workforce
• Ensure high availability, reliability, performance, and security across AI tools
• Modify FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) to align with customer use cases
• Engage regularly with customers to conduct requirements elicitation and develop solutions that address their needs
• Maintain existing customer-facing infrastructure and applications to support reliable service delivery

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (additional 4 years of experience may substitute for the degree)
• 3 years of software development experience
• Proficiency with Python or another Object-Oriented Programming language
• Knowledge of and experience using LLMs as part of a code solution workflow
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions
• Familiarity with UI/UX principles

Compensation and Location

Location: Laurel, MD (onsite)

Salary: USD 115,000 - 160,000 per year

Salary for this position, along with additional compensation options, will be determined on an individual basis following the interview process, considering factors such as years of experience, skills, education/certifications, contract specifications, and market conditions.
