Job Description
Senior Software Engineer at Leidos supporting a long-term DIA-NDOC DOMEX Technology Platform contract in Maryland (onsite) within a TS/SCI environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices in production-grade environments.
- Implement message consumption and production using Apache Kafka.
- Integrate Elasticsearch for real-time and batch data indexing and querying.
- Write unit and integration tests to achieve strong code coverage and reliability.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for services and deploy them to Kubernetes clusters.
- Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and architecture planning sessions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues with observability tools and dashboards.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Apply appropriate software engineering methodologies for development, integration, and production environments.
- Foster collaboration across team members to deliver quality service and product to customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph.
- Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
- Experience with containerization, particularly Docker.
- Hands-on experience with Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) processes.
- Linux development experience, including bash scripting.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architectures.
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience: deploying, monitoring, and debugging services.
- Knowledge of common design patterns, security practices, and logging/monitoring principles.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows such as pull requests and code reviews.
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, especially GitLab or Jenkins.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with AGILE methodologies.
- Team-oriented self-starter who can work independently.
