Sr. Software Engineer - Patient Onboarding

Rula offers a fully remote opportunity in the United States for a Senior Software Engineer on the Patient Onboarding team. You will contribute to the systems behind patient acquisition, registration, eligibility, and onboarding, with a focus on speed, trust, and completion. The position supports a collaborative, data-driven culture and provides clear opportunities to impact patient outcomes while working with a talented cross-functional team.

Salary: USD 172,550 - 203,000 per year

Location: Los Angeles, CA (remote). The role is remote within the United States; candidates must be based in the US, with Hawaii not currently being hired.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver reliable, high-quality product experiences that influence growth and patient outcomes
• Own projects end-to-end, collaborating with Product, Design, Analytics, and fellow engineers to run experiments, ship improvements, and iterate using real data
• Build scalable, high-performance systems with a focus on correctness and resilience to support business growth
• Provide technical leadership by mentoring teammates, surfacing constraints early, and demonstrating strong ownership and urgency

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, building, scaling, and maintaining production-ready web applications
• Strong expertise in API design, data modeling, and distributed systems optimized for performance, correctness, and resilience
• Proficiency with modern full-stack frameworks, able to emphasize either frontend complexity or backend logic while collaborating closely with Product and Design
• Proven track record of delivering technical initiatives end-to-end, balancing tradeoffs, defining scope and estimates, and highlighting risks early
• Experience improving team dynamics through structured code reviews, documentation, pairing, and mentoring junior engineers
• Active familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling to accelerate product velocity, plus the ability to assess associated risks and governance needs

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in evolving, high-growth startup environments or the healthcare technology sector
• Background building or consuming data-intensive pipelines, metric workflows, or system integrations
• Exposure to modern infrastructure practices, cloud environments, CI/CD, and observability tools
• Comfort with on-call rotations and participating in system reliability practices
