Sr. Transmission Line Substation Engineer (Power Delivery)

ECF Engineering Consultants is seeking a Sr. Transmission Line Substation Engineer (Power Delivery) to lead detailed design and construction-phase support for transmission line projects in the 69–500kV range. This full-time role is based remote, with travel for site surveys, scope walks, and meetings as needed.

In this position, you will manage engineering deliverables from specifications and field engineering through construction compliance, while serving as a project engineer or project manager on assigned workstreams. The role also requires demonstrated capability with system design and power delivery tools, including PLS CADD, as well as familiarity with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design for 69-500kV transmission line projects, including preparation of specifications, administrative functions, and field engineering related to assigned work under the supervision of the incumbent’s immediate supervisor or designated professional engineer.
• Support and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, including acting as Resident Engineer on small-size projects.
• Interpret plans and specifications and apply available information to satisfy all design requirements.
• Maintain familiarity with applicable engineering and construction codes and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and/or monitor construction schedules to support timely completion.
• Institute and direct changes to the work when differing site conditions require revisions.
• Conduct on-site design or investigation work to validate the adequacy of methods, including contractor methods.
• Receive, evaluate, and approve contractor invoices.
• Receive and inspect equipment to be installed and approve for payment.
• Prepare reports and feasibility studies for management submission.
• Promote efficient information flow and maintain complete and accurate records.
• Be familiar with the Client/Company drawing system and design and construction standards, along with applicable industry codes and practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (or Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of the FE exam).
• 7–10 years of experience in engineering of related projects.
• Professional Engineer’s license desired (State of Florida).
• Strong understanding of industry and national codes and standards, including but not limited to NEC, NFPA 101, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, and the International Building Code.
• Experience with system design software, CADD, and Microsoft Office products.
• Must demonstrate work experience with PLS-CADD.
• Strong analytical and management skills.
• Willingness to travel for site surveys, project scope walks, and meetings.
