Job Description
This staff level engineering role serves as an underfill for a Professional Engineer within the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. The position conducts plan reviews, facility inspections, compliance evaluations, subdivision reviews, and enforcement actions to safeguard Nevada's water resources. Travel to facilities across the state is required, with duties distributed approximately 75 percent in the office and 25 percent in the field.

USD 64,414 - 95,630 per year
Responsibilities
- Review civil improvement plans
- Conduct facility inspections
- Perform compliance evaluations
- Assess subdivision plans
- Take enforcement actions in conformance with the Federal Clean Water Act and/or Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code (NRS and NAC 445A)
- Collect treated effluent samples for analysis
- Prepare technical reports
- Investigate spill reports
- Lead meetings with permittees, consultants, and the public
- Travel to facilities statewide (day and overnight)
- Balance duties with approximately 75 percent office work and 25 percent field work
Requirements
- Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern
- OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field
- OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
