Mariana Minerals

Staff Product Manager, Engineering & Construction

San Francisco, CA $180k - $210k/yr Full time Posted 2d ago

Job Description

Mariana Minerals is building CapitalProjectOS (CPOS) to connect capital project engineering and construction workflows into software that teams can use every day. In this Staff Product Manager role, you will own product strategy, roadmap, and delivery across the MarianaEngineer and MarianaSuper domains, turning domain needs into AI-embedded tools with measurable impact on project outcomes.

Working onsite in San Francisco, you will embed with engineering and field teams to understand how design and construction actually happen, define what the software must do, and track adoption and performance from first discovery through rollout and continuous improvement.

What you will do

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and prioritization for MarianaEngineer and MarianaSuper, including agentic tooling such as engineering automation, reality capture, and plan-versus-actual intelligence.
  • Act as the primary domain expert, translating capital project engineering and construction workflows into software requirements.
  • Embed directly with engineering and field teams to understand day-to-day design and construction practices, anticipate edge cases, and separate true product requirements from one-off preferences or process gaps.
  • Write clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules, and build and test prototypes to move valuable products forward quickly.
  • Create a structured user engagement model covering discovery sessions, workflow reviews, sprint reviews, UAT, and adoption check-ins, ensuring users are accountable for feedback, testing, and adoption.
  • Develop rollout plans, training materials, adoption metrics, and feedback loops; identify adoption barriers and coordinate with engineering and construction leaders to remove them.
  • Define and measure success metrics including modeling and design turnaround time, C4 and reality-capture adoption, plan-versus-actual accuracy, cycle time, and downstream outcomes such as schedule, cost, and safety.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, maintaining a well-prioritized backlog and clarity on what is being built and why.
  • Improve visibility into what is built, why it matters, and how it is performing, connecting execution to impact.
  • Help build the PM function at an AI company, including establishing how the team works and developing PMs as the organization grows.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in capital project engineering (process, mechanical, or EPC design) and/or construction or field execution (superintendent, construction management, project controls).
  • Strong understanding of the capital project lifecycle, including design basis, engineering deliverables, procurement handoff, construction execution, and commissioning.
  • Ability to go deep into engineering and construction workflows and earn credibility with domain experts by understanding how work actually happens.
  • Strong product judgment, including ruthless prioritization and resisting the temptation to build everything at once.
  • Capability to translate complex operational workflows into clear requirements, priorities, and product decisions, and to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguous, complex projects with competing stakeholder priorities.
  • Genuine interest in AI-powered tooling, including translating model capabilities into products engineers and superintendents will trust, adopt, and want to keep using while staying current on AI advancements.
  • Strong communication skills across field superintendents and engineers through executives.

Compensation

  • USD 180,000 - 210,000 per year

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with engineering software (P&ID, 3D/plant design, datasheet or equipment-sizing tools) or construction management software (scheduling, QA/QC, reality capture, command-center platforms).
  • Experience shipping AI-powered enterprise tools such as agentic engineering workflows, document intelligence, or process co-pilots.
  • Track record of digital transformation in capital-intensive industries (mining, energy, construction, manufacturing).
  • Previous product management experience, or interest in moving into product management from an engineering or construction background.
  • AI-forward projects outside of work.

Why this role

Mariana’s adoption model is built around solving real problems for the market they serve. MarianaEngineer and MarianaSuper help determine whether designs move from design basis to 3D without drifting out of sync, and whether the field identifies schedule or quality issues in real time instead of only through monthly reporting.

The engineering tools you build are intended to serve as the authoritative source of truth for each project, while the command center supports the superintendent workflow used to run the site each morning.

Culture principles

  • Everyone Gets Home Safe. People are never sacrificed for speed or cost.
  • Extreme Ownership. Full responsibility for outcomes with relentless drive toward solutions.
  • Engineer Out Requirements, then Automate. Simplify, optimize, and automate for scale.
  • Share Your Legos. Collaborate openly, share knowledge, and empower each other to build bigger, better solutions.
