Job Description

As the Statewide Hydraulics and Drainage Engineer for the State of Utah, you will lead UDOT's statewide hydraulics and drainage program as the chief authority on drainage design across Utah, coordinating central hydraulic activities to ensure resilient infrastructure. This onsite role in Salt Lake City involves collaboration with multiple departments and agencies to safeguard UDOT assets and advocate for functional drainage systems. Compensation ranges from $44 to $70 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Authority: Serve as the lead expert for all UDOT hydraulic and drainage information.
  • Policy Management: Update and maintain official Division Manuals and design standards.
  • Bridge Safety: Provide expert guidance on bridge scour projects and serve on the bridge scour rating committee.
  • Strategic Planning: Direct the design of drainage and stormwater systems for various UDOT projects.
  • Research & Innovation: Evaluate new research findings to determine their suitability for integration into UDOT's standards.
  • Collaboration: Work with other departments and government agencies to protect UDOT assets and advocate for functional drainage systems.
  • Mentorship: Provide training to UDOT staff and participate in on-site field visits when necessary.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of engineering experience following your PE license.
