Structural Engineer IV
Job Description
Hargrove and Associates, Inc. is hiring a Structural Engineer IV in Memphis, TN (onsite) to lead complex structural engineering work from early concept through construction support.
Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual designs, engineering studies, and cost estimates for industrial and manufacturing projects.
- Produce preliminary and detailed civil/structural designs including calculations, material take-offs, and construction documents.
- Perform structural analyses and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Verify structural calculations, drawings, and design packages for accuracy, code compliance, and overall quality.
- Coordinate with drafting, design, and multidisciplinary teams to support project execution.
- Review vendor drawings, fabrication documents, and construction submittals to confirm alignment with project requirements.
- Create construction specifications and support procurement activities.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations, and provide construction-phase engineering support.
- Identify opportunities for design improvements, scope changes, and execution strategy adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Lead civil/structural engineering efforts while staying focused on scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Support work-sharing and coordination across multiple offices and project teams.
- Help with project planning, staffing, scheduling, and engineering hour estimates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Structural engineering coursework for structural-focused positions.
- 6-10 years of relevant industrial civil/structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; may be required based on project needs.
- Strong knowledge of structural design codes and industry standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI.
