Job Description
Overview of the Supervisory General Engineer role with the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command in Portsmouth, VA, onsite.
Responsibilities
- Develop tasking for propulsion system related engineering programs, assessments, and initiatives across the acquisition life cycle.
- Provide subject matter expertise and leadership to plan inspections ensuring orderly and timely ship maintenance availabilities.
- Lead advance planning, integration, and control procedures for ship availabilities and improve those processes over time.
- Chair and participate in conferences representing SURDMEPP with NAVSEA, Fleet activities, other naval commands, and private contractors.
- Perform specialized engineering data analysis for designated projects as directed by higher command levels within the Naval forces structure.
- Direct and supervise subordinate staff and resources to guarantee timely, high-quality completion of assigned work.
- Reallocate personnel between division sections to optimize efficiency and productivity based on workload.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New Department of the Navy employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Appointment of retired DoD members within 180 days of retirement to a civilian position is subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Ability to travel from the normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, by military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
- You must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101 as part of executive branch responsibilities.
- In addition to the Basic Education Requirements, the resume must show at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 or NH-2 level applying engineering theories and practices in mechanical, electrical engineering and Naval Architecture related to design, construction, repair, and overhaul of U.S. Naval assets.
