System Development Engineer II
Job Description
System Development Engineer II based onsite in Redmond, WA, supporting OTA software delivery and space operations for Kuiper satellites and ground stations, including troubleshooting, tooling development, automation, and aiming for operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support software applications and services used to update satellite software on the ground and in orbit.
- Coordinate across development, product, and support teams to manage high impact production operations and triage issues.
- Demonstrate meticulous problem solving and drive process automation where feasible.
- Provide space operations support for OTA procedures, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving production software issues.
- Design and implement tools, automation, and monitoring solutions.
- Perform software maintenance and configuration tasks.
- Develop fixes for in house code written in Python or Go.
- Track, update, and resolve technical challenges to improve operational excellence and system readiness.
- Deliver operations support for OTAs performed in space.
- Ensure code delivered in new releases meets quality standards for high performing OTAs during launches, in space, and during satellite provisioning.
- Conduct root cause analysis and issue triage.
- Execute software update procedures for satellites during manufacturing, in ground labs, and in orbit.
- Support responsibilities across multiple products, features, and services.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years designing or architecting scalable and reliable systems, including design patterns and reliability considerations.
- Experience coding in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Go (Golang), Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large scale infrastructure.
- Export Control Requirement: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems, plus hands-on systems engineering experience.
Compensation
USD 129,200 - 174,800 per year
