Job Description

TWM Engineering & Geospatial Services is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Transportation and/or Traffic Engineering to support traffic analysis, roadway safety, and design-focused studies. This is a full-time position with work location listed as Remote and based in any TWM office within the state of Tennessee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct traffic analysis and modeling to support transportation planning and roadway design decisions.
  • Prepare traffic impact studies, including trip generation and traffic projection distribution work.
  • Complete intersection design studies, including intersection capacity analysis.
  • Perform traffic signal and turn lane warrant analyses as part of intersection and corridor evaluations.
  • Assist with TMP, MOT, and other traffic-related design efforts that contribute to overall roadway projects.
  • Carry out roadside safety and crash analyses to inform safety improvements.
  • Develop recommendations for countermeasures and safety enhancements based on analysis findings.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in civil or traffic/transportation engineering with at least 5-10 years of post-graduation experience.
  • Professional Engineer license in Tennessee, Illinois, or Missouri, or demonstrated ability to obtain the license.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation and traffic engineering principles and standards, with the ability to interpret and apply them across varying project situations.
  • Experience using traffic analysis software including Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, and SIDRA.
  • Familiarity with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the AASHTO Green Book.
  • Design capability using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to write clear recommendations and communicate analysis and findings in written reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with DOT, local county, municipal, and/or developer-driven transportation and traffic projects.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
  • Experience in corridor/analysis modeling.
  • Experience in traffic signal design and signal timing optimization.
  • Experience with field traffic observation and adjustments of controller boxes.
  • Experience with Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design.
  • Interest and willingness to assist with business development and client relationships.
  • Experience representing TWM at conferences and professional societies.

Compensation

$85,000 to $125,000 per year, salary commensurate with experience.
