Transportation Engineer - Project Manager

This Transportation Engineer/Project Manager position supports DOT-focused transportation work within a multi-disciplined firm. The role combines technical leadership with project oversight, including planning, design, reporting, budgeting, scheduling, and client-facing participation.

Role Overview

In this hybrid opportunity based in Sioux Falls, SD, you will lead and support transportation projects primarily for DOT clients. Responsibilities include managing project delivery, coordinating project teams, maintaining budgets and schedules, contributing to planning and design efforts, and supporting reporting and client communications. The position also includes business development activities and participation in DOT workshops, meetings, and events.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple transportation projects, including preparation and monitoring of budgets and project scheduling
• Provide planning, design, and reporting support, serving as project lead on transportation initiatives
• Lead project teams and coordinate schedules and budgets across various projects, primarily for DOT
• Perform business development activities to maintain and grow relationships with DOT clients and teaming partners
• Participate in DOT workshops, meetings, and events as part of ongoing client engagement

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of transportation experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally throughout South Dakota for business development and project meetings
• Comfort speaking at client and public events

Compensation

USD 120,000 - 180,000 per year
