Job Description

The Water Engineer role at GFT in Texas offers a hybrid work arrangement and focuses on water resources and infrastructure projects across multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist condition assessments of water and stormwater assets such as pipelines and pump stations, employing diverse design methods and technologies.
  • Adhere to defined scope, schedule, and budget for each task and ensure timely delivery within allocated resources.
  • Collaborate with municipal clients to identify requirements and propose solutions, contributing to task order proposals.
  • Coordinate project execution with interdisciplinary teams and the Project Manager or Contract Manager.
  • Develop design projects ranging from planning through construction.
  • Prepare comprehensive construction packages (plans, specifications, and OPCC) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of client water systems.
  • Support the growth of client relationships.
  • Develop and manage cost estimates and project schedules to keep design tasks on budget and on schedule.
  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations and conduct technical analyses, potentially using third-party software platforms.
  • Participate in local office activities to promote collaboration, client development, and office camaraderie.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 3 to 20 years of relevant experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Texas Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Experience on projects involving design of water treatment plant upgrades, distribution systems, pump stations, and stormwater assets.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing ability.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving engineering plans, specifications, project schedules, and construction cost estimates.
  • Bluebeam experience preferred.
  • Active participation in VA AWWA, VWEA, or other professional associations.
