Senior electrical and substation engineering leadership onsite in Augusta, Maine, delivering design, analysis, and project execution across electrical systems with focus on budgeting, scheduling, equipment specifications, field oversight, QA/QC, and standards compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead early design efforts including rough budget estimates and milestone scheduling.
- Prepare detailed design packages with updated estimates and schedules.
- Define equipment specifications, assess proposals, and requisition components.
- Perform engineering calculations to verify safety and performance of equipment and systems.
- Select and apply appropriate engineering methods, equipment, and systems for the project.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary reviews to confirm constructability and alignment with project requirements.
- Synchronize design engineering and equipment delivery to meet construction timelines.
- Gather on-site measurements and data to finalize designs or evaluate equipment performance.
- Review completed work for design adequacy, quality, and documentation.
- Oversee construction of electrical systems to ensure conformity with plans and specifications.
- Monitor field construction to ensure compliance with codes, practices, and plans.
- Track construction schedules to support timely project completion.
- Direct changes to the work as requested by the Project Engineer.
- Execute testing programs for materials, equipment, or plant systems under project direction.
- Assist in evaluating and approving contractor invoices.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and approving equipment and materials.
- Serve as Project Engineer on medium to large projects when required.
- Perform complex analyses comparing engineering alternatives and economic viability.
- Prepare feasibility studies and management reports for decision making.
- Provide budget and schedule information to the Project Manager and leadership.
- Act as Project Engineer on assigned projects when needed.
- Provide expertise in design, construction, QA/QC, safety standards, and document control.
- Apply and promote national and local standards (ANSI/IEEE, NEC, ASTM, AIC, etc.).
- Maintain complete records and ensure quality across all work.
- Stay informed on current developments in the area of responsibility.
- Lead professional development, training, and performance evaluation for department personnel.
- May travel to support project work as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Engineer V (Principal Engineer) level or equivalent with at least 15 years of relevant experience in the designated engineering field.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited program or equivalent practical experience in the field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Salary Range
USD 140,000.00 - USD 175,718.40 per year.
