Job Description

RIBCRAFT USA, LLC is seeking a Senior Naval Architect / Marine Engineer to lead the design and engineering efforts across its current and future RIB projects from the Marblehead, MA site. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this onsite role manages a small engineering team and acts as the technical project manager, guiding feasibility studies, design reviews, and production support. The position offers a salary range of USD 100,000 - 130,000 per yearly and is based onsite in Marblehead, MA.

Responsibilities

Lead a 2-3 person engineering team with a mix of experience levels, overseeing workloads that include new build design, construction support, existing product enhancements, and testing programs
Provide technical expertise in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Production Design, and Lamination/Infusion to senior leadership and production management
Apply knowledge of ABYC, USCG, and US Navy small craft requirements
Develop, design, and manage production-ready drawings
Contribute to feasibility studies for new RIBCRAFT work and assist in technically-focused responses to future bids
Develop and track engineering change orders as needed
Serve as the primary technical contact for all subcontractors and customers
Lead design reviews as required and ensure compliance with job specifications
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new personnel as needed

Requirements

B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Ocean Engineering with 7+ years of field experience
Excellent time management, organizational, and people management skills
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and contribute as needed
Ability to recognize, delegate, and triage tasks to meet deadlines
Proficiency in setting and maintaining project schedules for self and the engineering team
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Rhino3D, and AutoCAD
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Overview

The Senior Structural Engineer conducts detailed structural analysis and validation of marine structures using finite element methods. The role involves developing high-fidelity models, establishing realistic marine load cases, and correlating analytical predictions with physical test data to support production designs in partnership with design, development, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

Build, run, and interpret finite element analyses using Siemens Simcenter (NX Nastran / Simcenter 3D) and FEMAP
Analyze the structural integrity of marine systems
Perform static, fatigue, modal, vibration, and transient analyses to inform design decisions
Carry out first-principles structural analysis to verify FEA results
Define and apply realistic marine load cases
Evaluate durability and fatigue life under normal and extreme operating conditions
Correlate analytical predictions with physical testing, instrumentation data, field usage, and warranty feedback
Support test planning, instrumentation strategies, and model refinement based on test results
Collaborate with design engineers to influence structural architecture early in development
Support design reviews with clear, data-driven recommendations
Define improved analysis methods
Produce concise analysis reports documenting assumptions, methods, results, and conclusions
Communicate complex structural behavior in practical, actionable terms to cross-functional teams

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field
3+ years of analysis experience in marine, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries
Hands-on experience with Siemens Simcenter / NX Nastran
Strong understanding of structural mechanics and finite element fundamentals
Experience correlating analysis results with physical test data
