Job Description

This AI Engineer role centers on developing agentic AI systems and automation tools that integrate with the transportation management system and RPA stack, all in a fully remote environment.

Location

Remote

Compensation

USD 150,000 to 210,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Design agentic AI workflows for structured logistics operations, including clear escalation paths to human review or RPA when deterministic handling is required
  • Call core platform and internal APIs to weave automation workflows into the TMS and other systems, collaborating with front-end and back-end engineers on execution
  • Integrate LLMs, APIs, and data pipelines into robust production services, with data engineering tie-ins to Firestore and Redshift
  • Build and operate agentic AI systems capable of autonomous decision making and task execution
  • Own evaluation frameworks covering accuracy, latency, cost per call, fallback behavior, and exception handling
  • Implement guardrails, monitoring, and audit trails for production AI systems
  • Work with Product and Operations to define success metrics before development begins
  • Utilize modern LLM ecosystems, including Claude-based and code-first AI frameworks, to construct intelligent agents and workflows
  • Stay current with AI and ML advancements, emphasizing agent frameworks and automation tooling
  • Develop lightweight frontend interfaces from prototypes and collaborate with full-stack engineering to productionize and scale successful proofs of concept

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of software engineering experience shipping AI or automation systems in production enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of agentic AI concepts such as tool use, function calling, exception routing, and scalable confidence handling
  • Clear insight into where LLMs and agentic systems outperform RPA, and where they do not
  • Ability to work alongside RPA developers and hand off structured outputs into downstream deterministic workflows
  • Experience with LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI), including prompt design, orchestration, and evaluation
  • Workflow orchestration experience with n8n, LangChain, Temporal, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with no-code/low-code automation tools such as Zapier, and judgment on when to move beyond them
  • Experience building rules-based automation with structured inputs, exception handling, and audit trails
  • Familiarity with retrieval augmented generation and vector databases
  • Experience integrating with TMS or ERP platforms and invoking core platform APIs to execute production actions
  • Backend proficiency in Node.js; comfort with React for lightweight interfaces; ability to collaborate with full-stack and data engineering teams to ship into production
  • AWS experience including Lambda, ECS, and S3
  • Familiarity with databases and data warehouses such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Firestore, and Redshift
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and building microservices
  • Active GitHub involvement or a demonstrated track record of shipping AI systems in production beyond prototypes
