AI Engineer
Job Description
PTMA Financial Solutions is hiring a midlevel AI Engineer for its Data & AI team in a hybrid setup from Naperville, IL.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine PTMA’s enterprise Claude deployment, including prompt design, custom skills, and configuration, under direction of senior team members
- Build and maintain AI-powered automations across business units (Finance, Compliance, Sales, Operations) by mapping manual workflows and targeting measurable time savings
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and improve AI skills, plugins, and integrations that connect to internal systems, including Salesforce and data pipelines
- Create and maintain integrations and custom tooling to enable AI to work with PTMA systems and data, including MCP integrations and API connections
- Support data and analytics engineering as needed to ship AI-assisted workflows, including dbt models, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Power BI reporting for AI, forecasting, and public finance use cases
- Help uphold responsible AI practices aligned with SEC, FINRA, and NIST CSF, including data handling, output review, and audit-ready documentation; partner with InfoSec and Compliance on safe and governed AI usage
- Drive adoption by writing clear user guides, running training sessions, and explaining AI capabilities and limitations to non-technical colleagues
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building with large language models, including prompt engineering and deploying AI-assisted workflows or automations into real use
- Working knowledge of data engineering concepts, including APIs, data pipelines, and structured and unstructured data
- Python (or comparable language) proficiency for AI integration and scripting
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate business needs into practical AI or data solutions
- Ability to clearly explain AI capabilities and limitations to non-technical colleagues
- Comfort working in or supporting a regulated environment, with attention to data privacy and responsible AI practices
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in software, data, or analytics engineering, including hands-on experience building with large data models

Preferred Qualifications
- Direct Anthropic Claude experience, including API usage, custom skill creation, and MCP server integration
- Claude Certified Associate - Foundations (CCAO-F) or Claude Certified Architect - Foundations (CCAR-F) certification through the Anthropic Claude Certification Program
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, SQL Server or Azure SQL, and Power BI
- Experience with Salesforce and AI use cases in CRM ecosystems
- Experience in or supporting U.S.-regulated financial services, treasury management, or public-sector technology
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services in data and AI-adjacent workloads
- Exposure to SOC 2, NIST CSF, or FINRA and SEC regulatory technology requirements
- Interest in contributing to internal AI governance practices and centers of excellence

What Success Looks Like
- Within 90 days: you know your way around PTMA’s current Claude deployment and active use cases, you have documented what you have learned, and you have shipped at least one new automation or improvement with team support
- Within 12 months: you are a reliable, hands-on contributor to PTMA’s AI capability, you have helped integrate Claude into several operational workflows, and internal teams come to you as a partner for building and refining AI skills and integrations
Role Details
- Location: Naperville, IL (hybrid)
- Pay: USD 120,000 - 145,000 per year
- Work schedule: hybrid role with mandatory in-office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; Monday and Friday remote; occasional in-office presence on Mondays, Fridays, or weekends may be required based on active projects or business needs; other arrangements may be negotiated with exceptional candidates
