Ammonia Refrigeration Plant Engineer
Job Description
Lead ammonia refrigeration and stationary equipment maintenance, safety inspections, and engineering support for client sites in Schaumburg, IL.
Responsibilities
- Follow safe work practices and comply with company policies and regulatory standards
- Operate heating and ventilating equipment and associated systems at assigned client sites
- Operate and support engines, turbines, motors, combustion engines, pumps, and air compressors
- Operate ice and refrigerating machines, air conditioning units, fans, and siphons
- Perform scheduled maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on client equipment
- Collaborate with internal and external customers on technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigations
- Provide engineering support for operational engineering functions, including maintenance programs and system performance
- Analyze and develop solutions for design, operation, maintenance, performance, and repair of vehicles/equipment and component systems
- Define maintenance program configuration to troubleshoot issues and support safe and legal operation
- Review manufacturer service bulletins (SB) and assess applicable guidance
- Develop solutions and implementation plans, including project justification and cost/benefit analysis
- Coordinate project implementation management and support warranty recovery on SB items that apply
- Organize and manage priorities to complete deliverables for projects, maintenance program changes, and technical specification revisions
- Coordinate with other operational groups to maintain safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability and efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field, or Five (5) years of equivalent engineering experience
- Valid, unexpired driver’s license
- RETA CIRO (Certified industrial Refrigeration Operator) Ammonia Operator II
- PSM/RPM for Compliance (RAGAGEP)
- Plant experience
- Must hold an engineering license in the state, county, or city jurisdiction where work will be performed
Preferred Qualifications
- With a Bachelor of Science degree: three (3) years of prior experience in the engineering field
- Ammonia experience
- Without a Bachelor of Science degree: seven (7) years of prior experience in the engineering field
Pay and Union
- $53.92/HR
- Local 399 union
