Job Description

Shamrock Trading Corporation seeks an Analytics Engineer II to strengthen Operational BI reporting by improving Power BI assets and migrating reporting and semantic logic to the Databricks platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain gold tables in Databricks as the source of truth for business metrics and KPIs
  • Translate business logic from Power BI semantic models into Databricks metric views, including reverse-engineering existing DAX measures and validating results against current reporting
  • Develop and maintain reporting in Databricks AI/BI dashboards and Power BI during the transition and to support the existing Power BI estate
  • Build reusable modeling and migration patterns used by the Operational BI team to move reporting onto Databricks
  • Document migration patterns so teammates can adopt them
  • Partner with stakeholders for an assigned Shamrock division to prioritize reporting needs and deliver accurate, intuitive reporting
  • Develop deep expertise in one Shamrock division and become familiar with data across the Shamrock family of brands
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data modelers, and BI analysts on strategic data initiatives and shared data assets
  • Monitor and test datasets and reporting for accuracy and reliability; apply version control and code review practices to analytics code
  • Support BI analysts adopting Databricks by sharing technical and data source knowledge as team skills shift

Requirements

  • 3+ years in an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, BI Developer, or similar role with a strong technical background
  • Advanced SQL, including writing performant queries that are easy to read and troubleshoot for data modeling and analytics
  • Experience designing and building curated or gold layer datasets in a medallion or similar layered warehouse architecture
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, including building and publishing AI/BI dashboards
  • Experience building a governed semantic layer or centralized metric definitions (e.g., Databricks metric views, dbt metrics, or LookML); at Shamrock this is implemented in Databricks metric views
  • Strong Power BI experience, including semantic model design and the ability to read and reverse-engineer existing DAX measures
  • Familiarity with relational databases (Postgres, Redshift, MS SQL) and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with GitHub and software engineering best practices such as version control and code reviews
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex concepts and analytical findings to business leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

What Will Set You Apart
