This senior structural design engineer role in Wichita supports PDS Tech Commercial's aircraft programs, including production, flight testing, and special mission modifications. The position involves investigating design build issues, authoring temporary engineering solutions, dispositioning non-conformances, and designing and releasing structural and systems installations.
Responsibilities
- Investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions
- Draft temporary engineering to resolve build issues in a timely manner
- Disposition aircraft non-conformances including issuing rework instructions (MRB)
- Review aircraft drawings and coordinate with affected engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and operations manufacturing representatives
- Design flight test engineering change requests and coordinate with work package owners
- Develop structural special instructions or restrictions
- Design and release special missions, structural and systems installations
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience
- US citizen or US permanent resident under ITAR requirements
- Experience in special missions or aftermarket modifications is required
- Experience supporting manufacturing and aircraft modifications is required
- Experience leading a team of engineers is required
- Minimum of 15,000 hours on CATIA V5
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 workbenches: Assembly Design, Part Design (Boolean operations), Aerospace Sheetmetal, Tubing Design, Kinematics, and Electrical Harness Routing is a plus
- Experience with Siemens NX is a plus
- Experience with Teamcenter PLM is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); proficiency with additional software is a plus
- Any aircraft or manufacturing experience is a plus

$75.00 to $95.00 per hour
