Application Engineer
Job Description
At ClearWater, Inc, the Application Engineer delivers high-end sales support and technical expertise for pumping systems and water and wastewater equipment across municipal and industrial markets. This onsite role collaborates with the Outside Sales team, project managers, aftermarket, and field service technicians to translate client needs into effective engineering solutions. Based in Hickory, North Carolina, the position blends rigorous engineering analysis with customer-facing responsibilities to help drive successful project outcomes.
Salary
USD 50,000 - 70,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Provide pump and controls selection, configuration, estimation, and proposal generation.
- Direct quotations to customer of equipment packages and budget estimates on spec-and-bid projects.
- Estimate pump station retrofits including labor, materials, and associated equipment.
- Provide technical research, application, and costing on non-standard equipment or items.
- Develop internal and external sales training, if required.
- Maintenance of engineering data, forms, and procedures.
- Back up & assist project managers and aftermarket sales team as required.
Requirements
- Five to twenty years of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with selection and application of centrifugal and positive displacement pumping equipment for municipal and industrial markets.
- Familiarity with motor selection for different pump types.
- Familiarity with controls, starters and/or VFD equipment as required to control pumping equipment.
- Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
- Able to carry out a series of work instructions without constant supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and prioritization abilities; able to coordinate with multiple departments including sales, office management, accounting, and warehouse.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Knowledge of automation systems including instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of 3D design software (Solid Edge, Solid Works, Revit) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Green Belt certification is a plus.
