APQP Quality Engineer

This onsite APQP Quality Engineer position sits within the Fluid Management Group at Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Elyria, Ohio. The role centers on quality control, data analysis, and the implementation of AS9145 processes to uphold product excellence.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Suppliers and Customers to align quality objectives
• Collect and interpret production data to assess product quality
• Lead root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions
• Halt production when serious defects are detected
• Monitor quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
• Train colleagues in quality control methods and analytical procedures
• Generate reports on nonconformances, root causes, and quality trends
• Review statistical studies, regulatory standards, and quality trends
• Identify critical points in the Value Stream and define sampling procedures
• Advance qualification of product and process changes to preserve high quality
• Support audits by Defense, Aerospace and Customer Auditors
• Provide support for failure analysis and reliability testing as required
• Review and approve quality document changes such as ECOs, MCOs, deviations, etc.
• Leverage a continuous-improvement roadmap with data-driven prioritization and implementation
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervision or management

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required
• Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA aligned to AS9145 process control tools
• 3 to 5 years of Quality Engineering experience in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, machine shops, assembly and test facilities
• ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQA, or CQM are preferred
• MS Office proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook)
• GD&T experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to present information, prepare reports and process instructions, and support Lear Romec functional groups
• Ability to assess, troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely, cost-effective manner
• Eligibility: access to Controlled Data or Information may be required; US Persons only for ITAR-controlled work as a DoD contractor
