Automation Design Engineer

The Automation Design Engineer role at Custom Fabricating & Repair, Inc. is an on-site position in Marshfield, WI, dedicated to designing automation for stainless-steel equipment and systems used by dairy, food and beverage customers. The position requires proficiency across electrical, electronic and pneumatic design, with travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to CFR safety policies and wear appropriate PPE for duties performed
• Communicate with automation department management, other management staff, process engineers, mechanical engineers, customers and vendors to define the automation scope and architectural requirements
• Collaborate with automation project engineers and project managers on the design of control panels, motor panels and HMI panels; perform detailed engineering
• Develop automation (panels and instrumentation) BOMs in coordination with project engineers and project managers
• Design control and information networks and conduct detailed engineering
• Coordinate project deliverables with engineers, designers, programmers and technicians
• Maintain continuous alignment of project scope with defined objectives
• Monitor project progress, identify issues and participate in their resolution
• Conduct project related research
• Knowledge of receiving bays, storage systems (tanks/silos), HTSTs, separators, cheese making equipment, evaporators, dryers and CIP systems is highly desirable

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electronic Engineering, or related degrees
• Experience: 5+ years of experience highly preferred
• Industry: Experience in the dairy, food and/or beverage industries preferred
• Technical: Ability to understand P&ID drawings, network diagrams, panel layout drawings and electrical schematics
• Licensing: Valid driver's license
• Travel: Ability to travel (overnight stays) up to 10%
• Design Skills: Experience with electrical, electronic and pneumatic design/engineering activities
