AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY ENGINEER - BEEF
Job Description
Automation Technology Engineer based in Greeley, CO on-site, leading enterprise electrical standards, strategy, and automation initiatives across multiple beef facilities while serving as the technical authority for electrical infrastructure and control systems, driving capital projects, reliability, and digitalization.
Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce corporate electrical and controls standards aligned with NEC 2023, NFPA 70E/70B, and OSHA across sites.
- Steer the enterprise level electrical infrastructure and automation roadmap, including modernization plans and IIoT initiatives.
- Lead capital project planning and execution from scope through design reviews, contractor oversight, and cost and schedule control.
- Standardize architectures, equipment selections, and lifecycle management practices across facilities.
- Enhance operational reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and robust root cause analysis.
- Maintain electrical safety compliance, including arc flash programs, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
- Perform audits and enforce governance across all facilities.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, IT, and leadership to align priorities and drive execution.
- Mentor plant engineers and maintenance teams; support vendor and contractor management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in industrial electrical and automation systems required.
- Solid expertise in electrical distribution, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and SCADA/DCS.
- Proven track record in capital project management and multi-site standardization initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of NEC 2023, NFPA 70E/70B, and OSHA electrical safety requirements.
- Experience in system design, integration, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements.
- Leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience with predictive maintenance, energy management, and automation-driven performance improvements.
- PE license and multi-site/corporate engineering experience are strongly preferred; food and beverage manufacturing or industrial background is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 75 percent of the time to support field operations and project execution.
- Ability to perform the duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness to travel as needed for company events or facility coverage, subject to business needs.
