CAD Operator/Engineer
Job Description
Applied Mechanical Technologies designs and builds equipment for railcar washing and wastewater treatment. In this CAD Operator/Engineer role, you will contribute to 3D drafting in AutoCAD and Revit, develop submittals, and support design and controls work from a hybrid setting in Momence, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Draft 3D models in AutoCAD (latest edition, current subscription).
- Draft 3D models in Revit (latest edition, current subscription).
- Develop submittals, including process and GA drawings.
- Participate in design meetings and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Assist with proposals and cost development.
- Conduct inspections and QC of fabrications and test process systems.
- Contribute to controls integration related tasks.
Requirements
- Strong 3D AutoCAD experience is required.
- A college degree is preferred but not mandatory if relevant work experience and capabilities are adequate.

Job Description
This is a long-term, full-time position focused on designing and fabricating industrial railcar washing and wastewater equipment, collaborating with a team of experienced designers and fabricators.
Design Disciplines Include
- CAD Drafting with potential promotion to Process Engineering (water based treatment and process systems)
- Mechanical Engineering (pumping, straining, conveying systems)
- Structural Engineering (Railcar and OTR Tanker access platforms, and modular system layout systems)
Work Environment
- Hybrid work arrangement with in-office and at-home work; comfortable office and fabrication shop in Momence, IL; flexible schedule to be determined.
- Opportunities for advancement and learning beyond CAD in process engineering, mechanical engineering, and submittal development.
- Travel is less than 10% and focused on startups; all projects are based in the USA.
