Job Description

Requirements

Strong C++ development skills including the Standard Template Library, Boost, templates, and object‑oriented programming
Python programming proficiency
Experience with systems, distributed, or embedded software
Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, including OS concepts, CPU and memory architecture
Developer in user space for on‑premises devices (not kernel mode)
Multithreaded programming experience with synchronization primitives such as mutexes and locks
Proven ability to write performant, efficient code
Proficiency with debugging and profiling tools like GDB and perf
Experience with file systems, storage, data path work, or building systems infrastructure code is advantageous
Kubernetes knowledge is a plus
Deep understanding of modern C++ concepts
Ability to produce clean, maintainable, high-quality code
Strong grasp of systems‑level topics including memory management, CPU architecture, and I/O
Hands-on experience with C++11/14/17 multithreading constructs (std::thread, std::mutex, std::lock_guard, std::unique_lock, condition variables)
Knowledge of memory management improvements such as std::shared_ptr, std::unique_ptr, and move semantics for safe resource handling
Experience applying RAII principles and smart pointers to avoid leaks and ensure exception safety
Ability to write cache‑friendly, low‑latency code and identify optimization opportunities
Familiarity with profiling and performance bottleneck analysis
Exposure to performance tuning and debugging low-level issues, with triage capabilities
Understanding of distributed systems design concepts
Strong foundation in data structures (lists, stacks, queues, hash maps, trees, graphs, and related structures)
Ability to analyze and optimize algorithmic complexity
Comfort with problem solving and whiteboard coding
Demonstrated ownership of technical components within larger projects
Ability to explain both the big picture and personal contributions
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
Experience collaborating with global teams across time zones

Responsibilities

Power Distribution Systems (Primary Focus)
- Design, engineer, and support the manufacturing of low- and medium-voltage switchgear (UL891, UL1558), switchboards and panelboards (UL67), motor control centers (MCCs), and distribution transformers (dry-type and liquid-filled)
- Develop and review single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and interconnection drawings
- Perform short circuit analysis, arc flash hazard analysis (IEEE 1584), and protective device coordination studies
- Conduct load flow and voltage drop calculations; ensure proper equipment SCCR alignment and bus bracing requirements
- Evaluate breaker selection, trip units, and coordination schemes
- Support equipment submittals, factory testing, and customer technical reviews
- Interface with utilities, consulting engineers, EPC firms, and data center operators
- Support FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting when required
Industrial Control Systems (Secondary Focus – UL508A)
- Design and review UL508A control panels associated with switchgear and MCC applications
- Generate control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Perform SCCR calculations in accordance with UL508A
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, protective relays, and monitoring systems
- Support UL inspection requirements and maintain panel compliance documentation
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams for proper control wiring practices

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related discipline
5+ years of experience in power distribution engineering
Experience with switchgear and switchboard design
Experience with MCC systems
Experience with transformer applications
Experience with data center power distribution architecture
Working knowledge of UL508A control panel design
Familiarity with NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 70E
Familiarity with IEEE 1584 (arc flash) and IEEE 242 (coordination)
Relevant UL standards: UL891, UL1558, UL67, UL508A
Experience with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools
Authorized to work in the US; this is an onsite role with hybrid schedule considered after six months
