Job Description

This fully remote role supports EPC operation related engineering concerns and best practice guidance from the start of construction through SOLV Energy's warranty period. It begins as a contingent-to-permanent position, offering a clear path to permanent employment. The role is based in Columbus, OH, with location details and expectations discussed during the interview process. Compensation is hourly, in the range of $35.82 to $44.77 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Qualified to perform all essential Construction Engineer job responsibilities
  • Facilitate an open flow of communication between operations and engineering partners
  • Provide transparency on what is working and what is not during operations and potential remediations
  • Serve as the point of contact for operations to present engineering concerns, and work with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to communicate design methodology and provide engineered solutions
  • Assist the operations team with engineering related construction RFIs, both internal and external during the construction phase
  • Exhibit urgency in resolving RFIs and other operations concerns
  • Know and understand all project specific design requirements (SOLV Energy requirements, client/contract requirements, and permit requirements)
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with site teams – Superintendents, Foremen, Project Management, etc
  • Ensure sufficient knowledge of the SOLV EPC Contract to support operations and confirm SOLV compliance
  • Direct the implementation of autonomous pile driving systems to capture material, labor, and schedule savings
  • Assist the operations team with more engineering intensive clients and client engineers or independent engineers
  • Guide project teams through design comments with consultants
  • Assist the warranty team with confirmation of responsibility related to manufacturer failures, design compromises, and installation errors
  • Develop and lead project specific training for project management and field teams in GPS enabled pile drivers and relevant software/tools
  • Support SOLV Energy in developing continuous construction monitoring using drone technology

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or related field
  • 2-5 years of construction-related experience, or equivalent
  • Excellent written communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Aptitude for problem solving, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Exposure in CAD/GIS and aptitude for proficiency in these and other engineering software
  • Ability to read and understand project drawings and specifications
  • Field experience preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Occasional exposure to weather, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Constant ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, talk, and possess depth perception
  • Occasional driving, climbing, carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high exposed places
  • Noise levels can be high
  • Ability to work in both office and field settings and manage daily responsibilities during site visits
