Control Systems Project Engineer I
Job Description
Thermo Systems LLC is hiring a Control Systems Project Engineer I for onsite work in Carmel, IN.
Responsibilities
- Operate independently in the field with a high level of self-sufficiency.
- Lead and assist with start-up and commissioning of control systems.
- Lead and perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
- Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and wiring diagrams; provide feedback on field conditions versus drawings.
- Apply experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of the company Quality Management System (QMS).
- Review standard documents produced by others for technical accuracy, grammar, and presentation.
- Display a firm understanding of complex control system design.
- Provide instrumentation specifications for complex control systems.
- Show thorough understanding of IT systems, network infrastructure, and computer system design as it relates to control system integration.
- Communicate effectively, positively, and proactively with customers.
- Follow customer specific site standards and procedures.
- Conduct business in a professional manner at all times.
- Deliver excellent customer care and support; be patient, attentive, and responsive to problems.
- Follow up and honor commitments with customers.
- Understand customer needs and actively seek to service them.
- Complete assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and under budget.
- Understand the scope of work; identify issues beyond scope and communicate with the project lead.
- Lead individual project tasks and/or small to mid-sized projects in their entirety.
- Act as the customer’s main contact on projects you lead.
- Communicate with customers and trade partners in a proactive and positive manner.
- Anticipate potential project issues and proactively plan solutions.
- Seek opportunities for new work with customers and contractors.
- Provide detailed feedback on project and task assignments.
- Demonstrate understanding of project contracts and specifications.
- Identify and manage project risks.
- Where applicable, direct and oversee junior staff regarding construction, operations, and maintenance tasks at the site.
- Make decisive, informed decisions.
- Build relationships with customers.

- Bachelor of Science with relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related curriculum plus relevant technical experience.
- Typically 4+ years of total experience.
- Proven track record: 2+ years as Lead Control Systems Engineer or equivalent.
- Overnight travel may be required up to 50% of the time.
- On call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located.
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Fit for Duty at all times.
