Job Description

The Automation Controls Engineer role, based in Circleville, Ohio onsite, sits within a custom systems integration team at Telesis Technologies. The position focuses on designing, implementing, and integrating industrial control and automation solutions tied to marking technology, including installations, FAT/SAT activities, and customer training.

Summary

As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will contribute to a dedicated custom systems integration group, applying engineering expertise to develop and integrate control systems and automation solutions associated with our marking technology. The role encompasses hands-on installations, factory and site acceptance testing, and hands-on customer training.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement control system applications with minimal supervision.
  • Core duties typically include PLC programming, human-machine interface (HMI) development, and vision and motion control applications.
  • Additional project work may involve electrical design and robotics components.
  • Oversee project installations, startup activities, and FAT at the company facility as well as SAT at the customer facility.
  • Provide training to customers on the implemented systems.
  • Support sales efforts by estimating labor hours for projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in PLC programming and HMI development; Rockwell PLC programming is preferred, with Mitsubishi, Omron, or Siemens experience considered a plus.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in vision system integration, with Cognex experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline.
  • Ability to read electrical wiring schematics.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to travel to and work at client locations (sometimes on short notice) up to 10-15% of the time.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Resides in or around the Columbus, Ohio metro area.
  • US Citizenship or other authorization to work in the United States without a visa.
  • AutoCAD Electrical drawing design experience is a plus.
  • Robot programming experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of NEC Code, NFP79 and ISO 13849-1 is a plus.
  • Option to work remotely for certain tasks.
