Controls Engineer
Job Description
Onsite Controls Engineer role in Idaho Falls, ID focused on designing and developing control systems for electronic and mechanical systems, with opportunities to prototype, test, document, train, and provide on site troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Assess current equipment and processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement; engineer and implement control solutions to address them.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to deliver precise, efficient equipment and control systems that meet safety, usability, and client requirements.
- Design and validate equipment prototypes through hands-on development and testing.
- Produce initial schematics and simulation models to evaluate designs; iterate to satisfy specifications and budget constraints.
- Oversee deployment of new measurement devices and control systems, ensuring proper installation and verification.
- Serve as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development.
- Draft and present technical documents, test reports, and results to management for approval.
- Write technical manuals for instrumentation.
- Provide device related training to staff and customers.
- Utilize HMI and SCADA, database programming, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office in daily tasks.
- Deliver on site troubleshooting and maintenance support for customers.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Solid knowledge of test methodologies, digital and analog circuit design, and the development and application of a broad range of instruments and controls.
- Strong foundation in applied mathematics and physics.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
- Proficient in PLC and HMI programming, and CAD tools.
- Detail oriented with ownership of thorough documentation.
- Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to synthesize information and identify underlying issues in complex situations.
- Results oriented with perseverance to achieve tangible outcomes and initiative to overcome obstacles.
- Skilled in planning and organizing, prioritizing tasks, and allocating time and resources to meet goals.

Physical Requirements
