Responsibilities
- Under general direction, design, configure, and operate complete building control systems focusing on HVAC controls to meet project requirements
- Ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs in collaboration with field teams
- Develop complex software, commission systems, and troubleshoot to guarantee proper operation of the building control system
- Prepare detailed submittals and communications to convey design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation teams, and subcontractors
- Design and configure technically complex control systems as defined by contract documents, creating flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics as needed
- Develop and test software programs required for system operation per project requirements
- Coordinate drawing creation and equipment schedules for submittals and installation
- Select, order, and track material deliveries for assigned projects; coordinate factory mounting to meet schedules
- Assist with loading, commissioning, and validation of system and network controllers; troubleshoot with subcontractors and other trades
- Provide field change information for as-built drawings and software updates
- Keep management and customers informed of progress and issues
- Assist in owner/operator site-specific training on the total building control system
- Participate in release meetings with the project field team and perform value engineering to balance cost and customer satisfaction
- Adhere to safety standards and uphold a high regard for the safety of employees and subcontractors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of three years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience
- Solid knowledge of the HVAC industry
- Understanding of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and related subsystems
- Experience integrating low voltage building sub-systems using protocols such as LON and BacNet; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with computer-aided drafting tools
- All of the above with a minimum of five years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with seven years of relevant work experience
- Willingness to travel to job sites outside the local area as needed to support customer needs
