Job Description

Citi’s Jersey City technology organization is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (AVP) to help shape and deliver data-driven applications. The role collaborates with the Technology team to establish and implement new or revised application systems, contributing to applications analysis and programming activities within a large financial services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform feasibility analyses, estimate timelines and costs, plan IT initiatives, assess risks, develop applications, and design or modify systems and programs to meet defined business needs
  • Monitor and control all phases of the development lifecycle—from analysis and design to construction, testing, and implementation—while providing user and operational support for applications
  • Leverage deep specialization in applications development to analyze complex problems, evaluate business processes and system processes, assess industry standards, and make informed judgments
  • Recommend and implement security measures during post-implementation review to ensure robust system design and functionality
  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups; propose advanced programming solutions and assist with customer exposure systems
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes
  • Act as an advisor or coach to newer or junior analysts
  • Operate with limited direct supervision and exercise independent judgment
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert to senior stakeholders and fellow team members
  • Assess risk in business decisions, safeguard the firm’s reputation and assets, adhere to laws and regulations, follow policy, and transparently escalate and report control issues

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications
  • Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
  • Working knowledge of consulting or project management techniques and methods
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
