Job Description

Join Lindenwood University to build and maintain scalable data systems that support reporting, analytics, and data governance.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders across university departments to define data reporting and analysis goals
  • Design, implement, document, and maintain a data lake aligned to university data requirements
  • Prepare the university data environment for AI adoption and use
  • Evaluate requirements and recommend solutions or alternative approaches
  • Provide technical support for department users of the data system
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, and standard operating procedures
  • Manage system upgrades and enhancements, including testing and documentation updates
  • Troubleshoot issues tied to data access and data manipulation and deliver timely resolutions
  • Create and maintain system security policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with university data governance and security policies
  • Develop algorithms to transform raw data into actionable, useful information
  • Create new data validation methods and data analysis tools
  • Monitor system and integration performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in project planning and implementation for system-related initiatives
  • Support the University’s mission and serve as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Model and reinforce University values: integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity, and teamwork
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Coordinate application upgrades or fixes with staff
  • Act as a liaison with third parties and other stakeholders
  • Attend user group meetings and conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • Minimum 3 years working with Microsoft Data Products, including Azure Database and Power Platform tools

Job Summary

  • Design and build systems to collect, store, and analyze data at scale from disparate sources
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to ensure systems meet organizational and user needs
  • Provide technical support to department users, manage upgrades and enhancements, and configure security
  • Work with the IT team in Enterprise Systems under direction from the chief information officer, chief data officer, director of enterprise systems, and other university administrators

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong understanding of university processes and data for correct implementation
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft data management tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Understanding of data lake and star schema configuration and management
  • Strong understanding of database design and database tool usage

Work Environment

  • General office setting
  • Standard Flex

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively at a computer for up to eight hours daily
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Location: Saint Charles, MO (onsite)

Experience: Minimum 3 years

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
