Data Engineer

Goodville Mutual Casualty Company is hiring a Data Engineer to help modernize and maintain data workflows that support the organization’s business needs. In this hybrid role based in New Holland, PA, you will focus on improving database performance and building reliable ETL pipelines with an emphasis on scalable, efficient data infrastructure.

Role overview

• Optimize data workflows to support dependable downstream reporting and analytics
• Enhance database performance through tuning and improved processing approaches
• Develop robust ETL pipelines that enable consistent data movement and integration
• Ensure the data infrastructure remains scalable, efficient, and aligned with business requirements

Required qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems, or a related field
• Experience: 60 months of data engineering experience for a Property & Casualty insurance company
• Experience: 60 months as an ETL developer for a Property & Casualty insurance company
• Ability to perform domestic, monthly travel to all organization offices (including in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota) and vendor work sites
• Use ETL/data integration and distributed data processing tools such as SSIS, PySpark/PySQL, or equivalent
• Use cloud-based data orchestration, asynchronous messaging, and serverless computing for querying and manipulating structured data, including tools such as SQL, SSIS, ADF, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, or equivalent
• Work with relational databases and performance tuning using tools such as SQL Server, DB2, Azure SQL, Fabric Lakehouse, or equivalent
• Use system integration technologies (APIs) such as REST, SOAP, XML, and JSON, along with scripting languages (for example, Python and Shell), or equivalent, for automation and data manipulation, including event-driven data flows and ETL pipeline design and development

Location and schedule

• New Holland, PA (hybrid)
• Three (3) days in office at 625 W Main St, New Holland, PA 17557
• Two (2) days remote from home office approved by the HR team according to company remote policies
