Job Description

National Alliance on Mental Illness builds data to strengthen program impact across national, state, and local teams. This hybrid role supports that mission by helping design, build, and operate a central data platform that enables trusted reporting and data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain NAMI’s central data warehouse and ELT pipelines by integrating sources across the organization, such as micro-services, Salesforce, and the LMS.
  • Cut down manual reporting by enabling richer, on-demand access to data for state organizations, local affiliates, and internal colleagues.
  • Partner with stakeholders to stand up curated datasets and self-service reporting that reduce reliance on hand-built affiliate reports.
  • Own data reliability by expanding automated quality testing, monitoring, and CI/CD as the platform grows.
  • Handle incidents end-to-end from source to dashboard when issues are detected.
  • Serve as the team’s first dedicated data engineer, establishing standards, patterns, and review practices that define how NAMI does data.
  • Build and operate the broader data platform, including ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and reporting.
  • Develop well-modeled transformations using analytics engineering best practices.
  • Deliver trusted, well-documented data products that follow established architectural patterns and continuously improve over time.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in data, analytics, or backend engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with version-controlled production ELT/ETL pipelines, including testing and monitoring.
