Job Description
At BITCO INSURANCE COMPANIES, the Data Engineer - Analytics role focuses on building and maturing the organization’s Data Services so internal business teams can use data securely and efficiently. Working in a hybrid setup from Davenport, IA, you will develop analysis and reporting in a cloud-based environment with an emphasis on data storytelling, actionable insights, and modernization.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Leaders, Analysts, and stakeholders to translate analysis needs into clear data requirements and scalable solutions.
- Help drive strategic data and analytics initiatives that enable curated self-service data consumption for key business areas and impactful insights.
- Integrate data-driven insights and analysis from multiple sources to support decisions across functional areas and along product, program, customer, and risk dimensions.
- Create analysis frameworks that support agile insight delivery while maintaining quality and helping inform strategy.
- Partner across operational and support functions to build scalable data-based solutions tied to improving metrics and OKRs.
- Work with business leaders to interpret market drivers, OKRs, and products so insights are understandable to other teams.
- Perform trend analysis and reviews, draft executive outlines, and recommend strategic changes based on data for non-technical leadership.
- Apply statistical modeling, Natural Language Processing, and GenAI/AIML modeling as part of data and analytics work.
- Implement automated data quality checks and validation processes to protect integrity and accuracy at scale.
- Design, build, and maintain robust reporting packages sourcing from the data warehouse and analytics marts, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Support reliability, availability, and scalability of reporting and analysis performance, optimizing as data volumes grow.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and reliability across warehouse, data marts, and reporting layers.
- Use Power BI to build reports, dashboards, and visualizations that stakeholders can act on.
- Troubleshoot data issues by identifying root causes and implementing timely fixes to reduce business impact.
- Create and maintain design documents and documentation for reporting pipelines, semantic models, and related processes.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in reporting and data analysis, recommending and implementing improvements for scalability and growth.
- Coordinate with business units to identify and interpret data needs and suggest innovative ways to consume and analyze data.
- Create reusable templates, including Power BI semantic models, to help other Data Services and IT personnel in their reporting efforts.
- Perform other assigned duties.
What you bring
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- 3+ years of proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar reporting role, with strong grounding in data analysis, reporting, and statistics.
- Experience focused on data storytelling, report development, and in-depth data analysis.
- Strong understanding of data reporting models and communication.
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar reporting tools, SQL, and experience working with relational databases.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools such as Snowflake or Microsoft Synapse.
- Experience with data modeling, semantic model design, and optimization techniques for scalability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting complex data issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork.
- Self-motivated, proactive approach with a focus on continuous learning and professional development.
