Job Description

Citi’s Technology team is hiring an intermediate-level Data Engineer ETL Developer to design, develop, and implement scalable data integration solutions using the Ab Initio platform for the Oracle Ledger program. In this role, you will transform upstream data into the CIT template for loading into Oracle Financials SaaS, with a strong focus on ETL pipelines, data quality, metadata management, and operational support.

This onsite position is based in Tampa, FL and offers a yearly salary range of USD 96,960 - 145,440. The role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, supported by a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, resilient, and scalable ETL processes using the Ab Initio suite (GDE, Co>Operating System, EME) to transform upstream data into the required format for Oracle Financials SaaS.
  • Perform detailed data analysis, data profiling, and data quality assessments to support data integrity across the Strategic Ledger pipelines.
  • Translate business requirements from the Strategic Ledger program into technical specifications for ETL jobs and data models.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for extraction, transformation, and loading across different database platforms.
  • Create and manage metadata within Ab Initio Enterprise Meta>Environment (EME), ensuring version control and alignment with program development standards.
  • Develop Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation, scheduling, and file manipulation supporting the transformation process.
  • Oversee the development lifecycle phases, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation.
  • Provide operational support for production applications, troubleshoot issues, and conduct performance tuning to meet business SLAs.
  • Apply advanced ETL and Ab Initio knowledge to analyze complex data problems and recommend efficient solutions.
  • Coordinate with data architects, business analysts, and other technology groups to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards and business needs.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes for the ETL framework.
  • Act as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts, sharing expertise in Ab Initio and ETL/data integration best practices.
  • Assess risk in business decisions with particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and for safeguarding Citigroup, clients, and assets, including compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations for data handling, adherence to Policy, ethical judgment, and transparent escalation, management, and reporting of control issues.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in data systems analysis and ETL development.
  • Mandatory proven, in-depth expertise with Ab Initio (GDE, Co>Operating System, EME).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (including Oracle and Teradata).
  • Solid experience working with Unix/Linux environments and writing shell scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing successful data-centric projects, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL best practices.
  • Experience with large-scale data transformation projects and loading data into financial systems (examples include Oracle Financials and SAP) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and adapt to unexpected changes in requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Plus: experience with job scheduling tools such as Autosys.
  • Beneficial: working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods.
  • Experience level: 5-8 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications, plus experience managing and implementing successful projects.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
