Data Engineer I (TM1, Python, AWS)

Travelers offers a data engineering role onsite in Hartford, CT with a competitive salary range of $109,300 to $180,200 per year. In this Data Engineer I role, you will build and operationalize data solutions and pipelines that enable AI and machine learning, as well as business intelligence, using TM1, Python, and AWS. The position emphasizes data governance, security, data quality, and cross functional collaboration to educate end users about data products and analytic environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions, address problems, apply transformations, and propose data cleansing and quality improvements
• Design data solutions
• Evaluate data sources to determine value and identify data to include in analytics
• Incorporate core data management practices including governance, security, and data quality
• Collaborate within and across teams to support delivery and educate end users about data products and the analytic environment
• Perform data and system analysis, assess and resolve defects and incidents of moderate complexity, and implement corrective actions as appropriate
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field or equivalent
• Six years of related experience
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Financial Reporting Software (eg TM1/IPA, Essbase, Hyperion)
• 2+ years of hands-on Python experience, preferably with TM1py and Pandas
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, etc. - preferably AWS) and cloud services (examples: S3, IAM, Lambda, Secret Manager, EC2)
• Proficient use of tools and techniques across cloud platforms, programming languages, and data engineering practices
• Prior Finance or Accounting experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or equivalent in education and/or work experience
• 2 additional years of software or data engineering experience
