Data Engineer - Level 4
Job Description
This Data Engineer - Level 4 role at Lockheed Martin Space focuses on building and maintaining full‑stack data pipelines and solutions across the data lifecycle to collect, ingest, process, store, and deliver data at scale.
Responsibilities
- Create data pipelines that cleanse, transform, and consolidate unstructured data into databases or data sources prepared for analysis
- Define and implement data solutions by establishing functional capabilities, security controls, backups, and recovery specifications
- Engage across all stages of the data solution lifecycle, including data analysis and profiling, modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), and the design of ETL, reporting, and analytics
- Maintain data system performance by diagnosing and resolving production and development issues
- Compute optimal parameter values to improve system efficiency
- Evaluate, integrate, and deploy new releases of software components
- Establish standards, best practices, and certification processes for data objects
- Collaborate with department data subject matter experts and analytics teams to create and optimize data and artificial intelligence learning models that meet stakeholder needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field
- Proficiency with Python, MS SQL, JavaScript, and HTML
- Experience building and maintaining React web applications using JavaScript, CSS, and JSX
- Experience designing and maintaining Node.js based RESTful APIs
- Developing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Harbor, and OpenShift deployments
- U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements

Compensation
The base salary range varies by location. In most major metropolitan areas of California, Massachusetts, and New York, the range is $131,000 to $227,125. For other locations, the range is $113,900 to $200,905, with final figures reflecting the candidate’s work location and related factors.

Location and Remote Work
Location: King of Prussia, PA with remote work option. The role supports full-time remote telework; periodic travel to Lockheed Martin offices may be required for meetings.
Work Schedule
9x80 schedule with every other Friday off. Lockheed Martin also supports additional flexible schedules beyond the standard 40 hours per week.
