Data Engineer, WW Ops Finance S&A

Amazon's Worldwide Operations Finance Standardization & Automation group is building scalable data platforms to support Operations Finance customers around the globe. The Data Engineer will shape data infrastructure, ETL pipelines, and analytics capabilities to enable timely financial reporting and insights for internal and external stakeholders. This onsite role in Bellevue, WA partners with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven solutions across the finance ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Craft and sustain intricate data architectures and ETL workflows leveraging Python, Spark, SQL, and AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, MWAA, EMR, and Lambda.
• Develop robust data architecture and scalable pipelines to meet customer reporting requirements, while delivering and maintaining analytics infrastructure for internal Finance stakeholders.
• Collaborate with tech teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources, ensure data quality, and balance design trade-offs.
• Partner with business users, developers, and BI engineers to deliver on data architecture initiatives and next-generation financial solutions.
• Contribute to code reviews and design discussions, participate in planning, and continually refine reporting processes while automating self-service support.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to drive innovation, scale current solutions, and develop new ones driven by stakeholder needs.
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues through root-cause analysis, maintaining high availability and reliability of systems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of data engineering experience.
• Experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
• Understanding of distributed systems as they apply to data storage and computing.

About the Team

The Operations finance data ecosystem supports global data management solutions, including scalable capabilities to serve 10+ data producer teams and 2,500 finance customers. This role collaborates with BIE and DE teams across the organization to identify critical customer pain points and help design, implement, and drive the data journey. In an era of advancing AI capabilities, the role will explore mechanisms to integrate AI-driven workflows for both builders and customer communities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles/permissions.
• Experience with non-relational databases or data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases).
• Experience building large-scale, high-throughput, 24x7 data systems.
