Job Description

QTS Data Centers invests in the people who keep mission-critical infrastructure running, offering a comprehensive total rewards package and support for professional growth. This onsite role in Atlanta, GA focuses on keeping DCIM-enabled monitoring and building systems stable, actionable, and ready for data center operations and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage DCIM systems to operate as designed, supporting data center protection, power usage capture, available capacity calculations, and meaningful, timely alarms, notifications, and reports.
  • Configure DCIM system applications for new data center deployments, evolving data requirements, and data center retrofits across EPMS, BMS (Building Automation Systems), and SCADA.
  • Prepare and maintain DCIM support documentation, test plans, and change management records.
  • Apply corporate policies, procedures, and standards to maximize performance across systems, applications, and networks.
  • Administer QTS power provisioning, incident management, and reporting processes for assigned sites.
  • Coordinate field work as needed, including contractor supervision.
  • Work independently and efficiently using analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills to support day-to-day operations.
  • Partner with maintenance personnel, project managers, building managers, engineers, and contractors to deliver site-specific projects.
  • Perform inspections and assist with testing and commissioning of facility systems when required.
  • Participate in on-call duty, including off-hour emergency support as needed.
  • Lead maintenance and modifications of controls on equipment to support more efficient operation.
  • Maintain flexibility for changing needs, including flexible hours and travel to other QTS facilities may be required.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another related Engineering degree, or equivalent professional experience (completed degree or equivalent experience required).
  • 5+ years of experience supporting critical monitoring and control systems and critical facilities.
  • Working knowledge and experience with BMS and building EPMS systems.
  • Familiarity with central chilled water plant systems, Computer Room Air Handling (CRAH) units, and facility operations.
  • Familiarity with power distribution systems in a data center environment or similar critical systems environment.
  • Up to 25% travel required.
  • US Citizenship required for this position by law due to federal customer contracts.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aveva WonderWare certification.
  • Knowledge of BAS/BMS systems and experience with ALC, Andover, Tridium, Delta Controls, or similar.
  • Understanding of network implementation.
  • Working knowledge of virtualized environments.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.
  • Working knowledge of SQL database systems.
  • Two or more years of experience with various PLC platforms (Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, etc.).
  • Experience with commissioning, qualification, and change control activities related to BMS, including HVAC, chiller plants, domestic and process water systems, and building automation systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering documents (Control Drawings, Sequence of Operations, Bill of Materials, Graphical User Interface requirements, and Functional Specifications).
  • Experience with BAC-net, Modbus, TCP/IP configuration, SNMP communication protocols, Active Directory security, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Understanding of basic power calculations on single-phase and three-phase circuits, electrical diagrams, and control diagrams.
