DCS Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities
- Assist in creating startup packages and maintain all documentation needed for their upkeep
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of a detailed startup schedule
- Plan startup activities and milestones, including major equipment actions, chemical cleaning, steamblow, and demonstration testing
- Oversee construction completion, turnover to startup, startup turnover to operations, and final turnover to the client
- Help develop clear startup procedures to satisfy contract requirements and coordinate the startup effort
- Assist in advanced planning for startup activities and major milestones
- Support programs for control of spares, consumables, outstanding work, and deficiency tracking
- Execute the startup in line with specifications and contracts to ensure timely and efficient client turnover
- Conduct comprehensive system walkdowns to confirm completion status and identify items outstanding for closure
- Serve as the primary lead for plant equipment and systems within the engineer's discipline
- Act as the main point of contact for all system functions through startup and plant operation
- Verify installations align with design and confirm operational feasibility
- Record as-built engineering changes on drawings and ensure proper equipment setup and testing per supplier requirements
- Provide functional supervision of other discipline engineers assigned to the project
- Adhere to safety and quality standards and support continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Serve in a lead capacity for the discipline startup team, directing startup engineers and technicians without direct management responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Engineering preferred
- 5+ years of relevant startup experience preferred
- Familiarity with Project Instructions Manual, Contract documents, Startup guidelines, and Division Policies
- Supervisory skills and strong communications abilities
- Planning and multi-tasking capabilities; problem solving and computer skills
- Knowledge of discipline technical principles related to power plants
- Understanding of tools, equipment, and instruments used in job duties
- Knowledge of internal engineering systems and tools

- Physical Demands: Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds; stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined or uneven spaces; see and hear naturally or with correction; full range of motion; handle and manipulate tools and controls; repetitive movement; may require work above 5 feet; climb and balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; work up to a 12 hour shift in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions
