Electrical Engineer

PIA Automation US is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Evansville, IN to design and support electrical control system architectures for automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Modify and refine electrical designs using working models to meet customer specifications, production constraints, and design trend changes
• Develop and maintain EPLAN standards and templates aligned with PIAUSA needs, including integration considerations across other PIA sites
• Build an EPLAN database and configure parts and components to support PIAUSA standard templates
• Assist other engineers with technical EPLAN questions and issues
• Collaborate with engineering, technicians, and customers to define and assess design changes
• Present designs and reports to customers or design committees and discuss required modifications for approval
• Evaluate feasibility of design concepts considering appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production cost/methods, and market characteristics
• Review engineering publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles to generate design concepts
• Research production specifications, costs, materials, and manufacturing methods to provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements
• Create prints from the assembly

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 1–2 years of design experience with electrical power distribution systems, lighting, optics and vision systems (DVT, Keyence)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, including panel layouts, electrical schematics, and circuit schedules
• EPLAN knowledge (preferred)
• Experience with PC operating systems (Windows 10)
• Strong technical writing skills
• Experience troubleshooting machinery
• Fundamental understanding and implementation of NEC, NFPA, and ISO machine design and safety standards
• Ability to translate specifications and written outlines into operating machinery
