Electrical Engineer IV
Job Description
Electrical Engineer IV based onsite in Windsor, CT, leads substation engineering, QA/QC, and technical reviews for US clients, with project leadership in design deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Oversee substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the United States.
- Produce electrical protection/control and physical layout design deliverables.
- Manage projects of varying size, complexity, and voltage class, from small distribution upgrades to large transmission initiatives.
- Serve as a Senior Engineer assigned to perform station engineering physical quality reviews.
- Be familiar with key elements of the electrical physical system, including conduit plans, direct stroke lightning plans and studies, electrical plans/elevations/details, grounding plans and studies, bill of materials, AC Schematic three-lines, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnections, and cable schedules.
- Act as an independent Quality Control Engineer on assigned Station Engineering Physical projects.
- Provide industry and client-specific knowledge to project teams.
- Offer constructive feedback on physical design packages.
- Collaborate with other reviewers at TRC and participate in review meetings to discuss comments and feedback.
- Support design teams by answering design questions as needed.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to select and apply standard techniques for systems of varying size and complexity under supervision.
- Conduct preliminary and detailed design reviews; review equipment specifications and engineering calculations for safety and performance.
- Apply appropriate engineering subject matters and cross-discipline interfaces to ensure constructability and conformance to project requirements.
Requirements
- Experience leading Station Engineering Physical design projects.
- Knowledge of Station Engineering Physical project schedules and timelines.
- Proficient in applying standards (for example ANSI/IEEE, National Electric Safety Code, ASTM, AIC, etc.).
- Commitment to complete and accurate record keeping; responsible for the quality of all work performed.
- Ability to provide feedback that fosters learning and growth in others.
- Keep informed of current developments in the area of responsibility.
- May assist in professional development, training, and evaluation of department personnel.
- Minimum eight (8) years of relevant engineering experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited program.
- Professional Engineering License is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; solid technical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate with design engineers and cross-discipline teams.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with engineering software applications such as Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
