Electrical Hardware Design Engineer
Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc is seeking an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to support a cross-functional team developing complex, mission-critical airborne systems hardware. The role includes requirements support, schematic and PCB/PWB design activities, and participation in manufacturing, integration, test, and qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Support program phases including requirements analysis, schematic capture, defining routing constraints, directing PCB/PWB layout and routing activities, and aiding manufacturing, integration and test, and qualification.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and customers to develop systems that meet stated expectations.
- Primarily support the Airborne Systems business area, including development of mission computers, sensor processors, and stores management hardware.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field.
- 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire.
- Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Due to the nature of work performed within company facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Technical Skills and Tools
- Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition (including Xpedition) and HyperLynx.
- Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis.
- Hands-on use of oscilloscopes and Ethernet network testers.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing electrical hardware using the Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite.
- High-speed digital and high-density circuit card design experience, including embedded processors or FPGAs.
- Experience designing using fiber optic interfaces.
- Advanced working knowledge of lab equipment, including oscilloscopes and Ethernet network testers.
Additional Role Strengths
- Understanding of the hardware development process across the lifecycle of a program.
- Experience with circuit card designs, including advanced materials, packaging techniques, and high-speed interfaces.
- Working knowledge of Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition for schematic entry, constraint manager, and HyperLynx Signal Integrity/Power Integrity analysis.
- Ability to persevere through design challenges with minimal direction.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to drive innovation and secure buy-in on concepts.

- Ability to identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
Work Location and Schedule
- Location: Bloomington, MN (hybrid).
- Workplace options: fully on-site or Hybrid/Flex, with some program assignments requiring on-site presence.
- While on-site, you will be part of the Bloomington, Minnesota facility.
Compensation
- Salary range: USD 118,570 - 125,054 per year.
