Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer

The Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer role supports precision electro-optics work at L3Harris Technologies in Carlsbad, California. This onsite position focuses on electronics design and analysis, development of review and test artifacts, and integration activities to meet program cost and schedule milestones.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform electronics design and analysis using electrical design and analysis tools, including schematic capture and functional and block diagram generation.
• Create electrical wiring diagrams and support digital, power, analog, and mixed signal designs.
• Collaborate with Optical, Mechanical, Software, Firmware, and Electrical Engineers and Technicians as part of an integrated product team (IPT).
• Meet project cost and schedule milestones.
• Contribute to customer reviews and provide design support during review activities.
• Create design review packages and present circuit designs at peer reviews, including analysis, performance budgets, and test data demonstrating alignment to functional requirements.
• Develop test plans and test procedures to validate circuit implementation against functional requirements.
• Translate system-level requirements into detailed implementation-level block diagrams.
• Lead bench-level system integration involving hardware, software, and other FPGA designs.
• Support planning and execution of project plans and design reviews, including involvement in production release of modified or new product documentation.
• Review product specifications and generate system and module-level block diagrams, flow diagrams, and design concepts.
• Generate trade studies that include analysis of cost and schedule impacts on short turnaround efforts.
• Support proposal efforts and early program stages to define detailed system requirements.
• Design, build, and test mixed signal low voltage current driver boards.
• Apply board design experience using microcontrollers.
• Use microcontroller programming and debugging in embedded C.
• Support stepper motor control circuit design activities.
• Demonstrate an ability and desire to own development cradle to grave.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of electronic design and simulation tools such as Altium, Xpedition, Cadence ConceptHDL, OrCAD, PADS Layout, Spice, and Mentor Graphics tools.
• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

• Experience preparing presentation materials.
• 4+ years of experience in digital electronics technology, parts availability, and design architecture.
• 4+ years of design experience through the development cycle, completing integration and test of circuit designs.

Location and Compensation

• Location: Carlsbad, CA (onsite)
• Salary range: USD 106,500 - 197,500 per year
• Experience requirement: Minimum 4 years
