Electrical Engineer IV
Job Description
Lead coordination and technical execution for electronic hardware strategy, electrical design, development, and verification for customer products at an onsite role in Santa Ana, CA.
Responsibilities
- Design and document electronic hardware for customer products and related electronics to satisfy both customer requirements and manufacturing requirements
- Provide electrical project leadership for one or multiple concurrent projects, including organization, mentoring, and training for engineers as required
- Coordinate electronic hardware engineering strategies for customers and support development of project proposals and associated cost estimates
- Drive execution across electronic hardware design, documentation, verification, and coordination with internal teams and vendors
- Perform evaluation of quality measurements on electronic designs according to a verification plan
- Create design documentation tied to electronic design projects, including specifications and engineering computations
- Assist Mechanical Design, PCB Design, Functional Test, and In-Circuit Test teams for product, test, and tooling development
- Support prototype build activities for electronic hardware projects
- With management guidance, work with customers to understand product design requirements and communicate technical issues to customer technical personnel
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and equipment vendors to align on customer and Benchmark Electronics (BEI) requirements
- Work with Sustaining Engineering (product, process, test, and quality) to develop products that leverage manufacturing and test processes
- Follow project plans, report project status to leadership, and gather and report status to both leadership and customers as needed
- Lead or contribute to Design for Excellence (DFX) efforts, including DFX reviews and creation of required documentation
- Promote DFX philosophy with customers and assist with DFX-related documentation
- Investigate and support infusion of advanced/new technologies; participate in research and development of new design methods and tools
- Focus on specific hardware design technologies and electronic hardware design/documentation using standard methods and tools to support manufacturable products
- Verify completed work, including checking tolerances, component selection, system requirements, and review of other hardware group members’ work per the verification plan
- Communicate technical challenges, collaborate with peers to implement solutions, and support continuous improvement activities with full documentation and team follow-up reviews in presentation format
- Deploy processes and systems within the workgroup
- Recognized as a senior expert for technical problem-solving beyond typical methods
- Support 24/7 global business operation as required
- Ensure the quality of work to meet or exceed customer satisfaction (company-wide responsibility)

- Proven ability to complete projects in a timely manner
- Ability to work individually or in teams; ability to take on project leadership/ownership with management guidance
- Demonstrated effective use of lab equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound technical decisions
- Knowledge of schematic capture tools including Cadence OrCad, Cadence Concept, Mentor Design Architect, Mentor Design Capture, Mentor DX Designer, Veribest, and Innoveda
- Familiarity with advanced technologies and applications
- Knowledgeable in advanced technologies including Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design, Single Board Computer/peripheral design considerations, power supply design, Radio Frequency (RF) design, and Signal Integrity
- Intermediate understanding of software programming techniques
- Advanced knowledge of schematic capture software, PCB layout software, and digital or analog simulation software
- Skilled with intermediate or higher software programming techniques and languages
- Demonstrated effective use of lab test equipment, advanced analytical skills, and electronic circuit debugging
- Ability to provide technical leadership within hardware development and project teams; ability to mentor others
- Travel up to 10-20% of the time, including day, overnight, and international travel, as required
- Typically requires minimum 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree (or 6 years with a Master’s Degree, or PhD with 3 years experience, or equivalent experience)

Compensation
- $128,279 to $192,419 USD per year
- Compensation decisions consider skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs
Work Location and Schedule
- Onsite: Santa Ana, CA
- Shift 1
- Work schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm
