Job Description

Leidos is seeking an Electrical System Design Engineer to support a multidisciplinary team in Huntsville, AL. The position focuses on designing electrical architectures and electronic assemblies for aerospace and military systems, from system-level definition through verification and integration support.

Role Overview

You will develop system-level electrical architecture and design deliverables, including block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings. The work also includes component selection and derating, verification testing for new hardware designs, and assistance with system integration activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation
  • Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams
  • Cable design experience
  • Fundamental understanding of circuits and circuit components
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods
  • Self-starter capability with the ability to work independently
  • Residency in the North Alabama area or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards
  • Electrical design experience for military hardware or aerospace systems
  • Experience supporting cable production
  • Experience with high power applications
  • Familiarity with AS50881 NASA Derating Standard
  • Cable design experience using SolidWorks Electrical, Creo Schematic, Draftsight, or Microsoft Visio
  • Experience designing special test equipment architecture to facilitate production testing of MIL rated components
  • Experience designing high-power AC electrical distribution systems including generators, UPS systems, transformers, circuit protection, and custom control panels

Compensation and Location

  • Location: Huntsville, AL (onsite)
  • Salary Range: USD 87,100 - 157,450 per year
  • Pay Range: USD 87,100.00 - 157,450.00
