Job Description
Embedded Software Engineer role in Baltimore, MD, focused on SSE software development for mission systems with cybersecurity and program protection.
- Role focus: Develop, enhance, and maintain SSE software (cybersecurity / program protection) for mission systems
- Team environment: Scrum team supporting SSE software, cybersecurity, software assurance, secure coding practices, and security-focused engineering trade studies
- Software development lifecycle: Participate across requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of SW products
- Integration and validation: Perform integration and test activities, including security engineering work
- Testing: Develop and execute unit tests; create, run, and track build verification test plans; report test status
- Security engineering: Conduct system vulnerability scanning, remediation, and patch management
- Technical reviews: Review software products, software designs, and related technical documentation
- Peer review participation: Support technical peer reviews to verify end-to-end system/software requirements are met
- Embedded real-time development: Work in an embedded environment using real-time operating systems for flight and mission-critical systems
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Systems Engineering, Automation, DevSecOps, and Systems Test in an Agile SW development setting
- Security tooling alignment: Apply secure coding and security best practices throughout development
Requirements
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related experience; or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience
- Alternative consideration: 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
- Clearance: Must have a current/active Secret Clearance to start and maintain it for continued employment
- Program access: Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start and for continued employment
- Programming: Experience with C/C++ and/or Python
- Agile and embedded: Experience with Agile SW development, embedded system programming, SW integration, and testing
- Security domain: Experience in System Security Engineering, Program Protection, or Cybersecurity
