Job Description
Electrical Design Engineer opportunities in Melbourne, FL with Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems, supporting electrical lab design, integration, and systems engineering needs. This role helps define system architectures and requirements while coordinating with customers and serving as a prime technical contact on significant technical matters. The position is contingent on program funding and may be filled at the Base or Principal level based on qualifications.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop system architectures, defining key capabilities and performance requirements.
- Define design and technology maturity constraints in line with customer specifications.
- Develop detailed definition of system external interfaces.
- Define the system implementation approach and the operational concept.
- Ensure requirements are met and evaluate performance with customers.
- Develop thorough system requirements and requirement verifications.
- Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
- Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
- Apply extensive technical expertise across related disciplines, communicating technical approaches and findings clearly.
- Solve complex problems using ingenuity and creativity, working with discretion and latitude to determine technical objectives.
- Guide successful completion of major programs and may take on project leadership responsibilities.
- Serve as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects, coordinating on significant technical matters with senior external personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related professional or military experience, OR a Master of Science in a STEM discipline with 0 years, OR a STEM Ph.D. with 0 years of related professional or military experience.
- Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any required program access within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the Company.
- Experience with electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and/or systems for commercial, industrial, and/or domestic purposes.
- Experience with electrical wiring design and troubleshooting system installations.
- Must also meet one of the following experience pathways: Bachelor of Science with 5 years related experience OR Master of Science with 3 years OR STEM Ph.D. with 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoCAD Electrical design experience
- NX capital
- Manufacturing or liaison support experience to support build and installation of assemblies and testing of aircraft systems
- Experience developing and managing test requirements
- Experience in subsystem, payload, or system integration
- Knowledge of aircraft-type cable assemblies and MIL-type wiring and components (for example, MIL connectors, back shells, relays, switches, indicator lights, terminal junction system components) using system-level functional architecture and input from the System Lead or Cognizant Engineer

Compensation
USD 79,300 - 147,600 per year. Primary level range: $79,300 - $118,900. Secondary level range: $98,400 - $147,600. Offer amounts are determined by factors including scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and share company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
